Godfrey's Cockatiel Family & Friends, A Tribute to Pancake Page

She is a Cinnamon and a little lady. She, as far as I am concerned is the sweetest thing that God has made. I often feel that the special relationship I share with her is to good to be true almost to the point where I feel like its not meant to be. This little bird just loves me beyond description and we truly share something very special together.

I am not going make a big issue of her past. Simply put she has suffered the most of them all here, she carries the scars of her ordeal on her wings and around her neck. When I got her she was sick and malnourished and had been badly treated. But on the other side of the coin she knows that she has it made here and she really appreciates her family.

Just after I got her she got sick and my friend Alan Dean took her in to his home to help me get her better. Some time later I got this call one day to say she was eating his pea’s and I knew she was getting better

I knew I meant something to her when I went to collect her she was very happy to see me

Incidentally we have have had a few episodes of her being very ill, in the last episode I kept her in my bed at night under the duvet so she would be warm and conserve her energy and I had even resigned myself to loosing her but there is nothing like having a vet as personal friend.

I must admit once decent feeding and loving care started to take effect and her resistance improved all this being ill business stopped in fact she is now the last to get anything the exact opposite to her friend Blanche.

It took from May 1996 to November 1996 to win her over including every weekend trips to my mom with her and Blanche in the car including visits to my friends. I finally knew I had succeeded when one Sunday afternoon during siesta she flew to my bed and came and cuddled up next to me on the pillow and went to sleep. It can be said that that was the happiest day of my life. I had succeeded .

What was the magic trick? I actually don't know. I ignored her fear of me and carried on like nothing had happened to her. Instead showering her with love. Showing her she was special to me and how much I love her. I spend a lot of time telling her I love you. It has paid off very handsomely.

Incidentally it was only in October 1997 that she finally allowed me to scratch her head. Almost 18 months after she came to live with us.

I give her little kisses and stroke her back while I recite her the poem and when I am finished her eyes are half closed and she seems far away. Some times she starts making little twittering noises and I ask her do you love me and she sits there and twitters away to me.

She is a little lady she is always watching her diet and her waistline in contrast to Blanche who is a pig. My mom has a saying "There is not a Marie Biscuit out of place there." That definitely applies to Pan cake

She has many special names but Thouthsos is her most common special name, Sousos but with a th. Two-twee-thothos Corruption of Too sweet for wordsthis . I always tell her, that your name means you are too sweet for words or you are like two sweet hearts

She always sits on my shoulder next to Blanche near my ear which she cuddles up to or on my knee and sleeps for most of the journey.

Her position of choice in my car at night time is on the dashboard. See the picture on top

As can be seen here she is not a willing subject of the camera. She wants to get back to the chew bush which she just loves.

Remember grief is like a thief in the night and is no respecter of time or place or occasion it can floor you when least expected.
